Who Are We?
In 1951, a group of women began raising funds to help build a new hospital. Women and men throughout Cape May County unified to continue their financial support for expanded healthcare services, and as a result, the Cape Regional Auxiliary was created. The Auxiliary now has five branches (Cape May, M.A.S.H., Team Cape, Twigs, and Wildwood) that continue to actively support the community through their dedication to the Cape Regional Health System.
Activities sponsored by the Auxiliary Board include numerous fundraising efforts throughout the year as well as operation of two thrift stores - The EtCetera Shop in North Cape May and The EtCetera Shop in Cape May Court House. All branches assist with board-sponsored fundraising projects as well as sponsor special projects of their own throughout the year. All monies raised by the Auxiliary are presented to Cape Regional at the year-end Annual Luncheon.
The Auxiliary has provided financial support for Health System projects such as the Emergency Department and ICU renovations, the Helipad and Early Education Center, purchase of the Cancer Center Van, we are well on our way to fulfilling our most recent pledge of $1M for the Thomas & Claire Brodesser Cancer Center.
Auxilians - A Unique Group of Volunteers
Most people have at least some idea of what healthcare volunteers do. But many don't know about the work of a special group of volunteers, those that belong to the medical center Auxiliary. Cape Regional Medical Center Auxiliary has a proud history.
To continue this financial support for necessary healthcare services, women and men in Cape May County grouped together and formed our present Auxiliary. The Auxiliary's Board was formed to help expand and coordinate the activities begun by numerous individuals. The present-day Auxiliary has four branches.
Activities sponsored by the Auxiliary include operation of The EtCetera Shops. All branches assist Board-sponsored fundraising projects as well as additional projects of their own. Monies raised by the branches are presented to the hospital. Over the years the Auxiliary contributions have helped build the Early Education Center, the helipad, the pediatrics department and most recently the Emergency Room and Cancer Care Center Expansions, in addition to new equipment for various departments.
